Why does this blog exist?
As so much of my work involves studying and teaching the Bible, this blog is a way of recording my thoughts and getting them in order. I tend to ingest a massive amount of information and teach on several topics to different groups every week. It is too easy to read something or even teach something and then immediately forget what it was or why it matters. Maybe you have had the same experience I have after reading a good book or listening to a good sermon; you say to yourself that you should go away and think about that, then never do it. This blog aims to help me reflect on things I have come across and get my thoughts in order. If it helps others as well I will consider that a bonus.
There are so many Christian blogs out there, and many of them are very good. Many of them are likely to say far deeper and more insightful things than I will. I have no ambition to be some cultural frontrunner or to be controversial for the sake of it. All I intend to do with this blog is to reflect on aspects of God’s word and how they apply to today.
The internet is full of negativity and reactionism. It is easy to attract the eye if you say that something is wrong or complain about things. In contrast, I firmly believe that God has been so incredibly kind to me and the world through Jesus, and there is much to be positive about. I pray that this blog is dominated by articles which make people think and thank God rather than just be a list of things that are wrong with the world.
